GAS CLEANING UNITS
At present various methods of loss reduction of oil products with breathing gases are used in the petroleum industry, however, just the systems for recovery of light hydrocarbon fractions are considered for today as the most challenging and allowing to increase radically ecological and economical levels of all production operations connected with intake, storage and distribution of crude oil and petroleum products.
There are several methods of gas cleaning by removal of hydrocarbons from tank breathing gases including the best known adsorption-absorption method and membrane technology.

– a jet absorption unit for cleaning of breathing gases and recovery of oil gases and oil products gases of loading
racks, terminals and tank batteries.

Principle of operation of jet absorption unit (for gasoline loading racks)
The air-vapor mixture (I) from the gasoline loading rack is delivered to the inlet of jet-device 1. The gasoline delivered by the pump 4 is used as an motive fluid in the jet-device. As result of ejection process, there occurs a compression of air-vapor mixture and absorption of gasoline vapors by motive fluid.
The air-vapor mixture after the jet-device is delivered to the separator 2, where the further absorption of gasoline vapors by motive fluid and air separation occurs. The final purification of air from hydrocarbon vapors is carried out in the absorber 5, to which the gasoline cooled in the chilling unit 6 is delivered as an absorbent. The purified air free of hydrocarbons after the absorber 5 is vented to atmosphere.
There is extracted up to 99% of hydrocarbons from a gas-vapor flow entering the jet absorption unit. The pressure in absorber 5 is maintained with help of a control valve installed in the line for gas discharge from the jet absorption unit. The circulating motive fluid is delivered from the separator 2 to the cooler 3 (it is installed, if necessary) for cooling, whereupon it is delivered to the suction of the pump 4. There is provided a makeup III with fresh gasoline for refreshment of the motive fluid. The excess of the motive fluid IV is discharged through the level control valve of the separator 2 from the unit to the loading rack or to the tank battery.
For crude oil-loading facilities, the crude oil itself serves as an motive fluid of the jet absorption unit. The degree of air purification from hydrocarbons reaches 93-96% (results achieved with West-Siberian crude oil). The chilling unit is not used for cleaning of crude oil gases.
Jet absorption unit for cleaning of “large” and “small” tank
breathing gases differs from the jet absorption unit of loading
racks by its control system and provides the degree of air purification
from hydrocarbons up to 99% for gasoline tanks and up to 96% for oil tanks.
